We are looking for seasonal Equine Veterinarian based in Taupo as soon as possible. 

About us:

Waikato Equine Veterinary Centre (https://www.wevc.co.nz/) is a full-service equine clinic located in the heart of Waikato. With our state-of-the-art facility and highly experienced team, we cater to all equine athletes and leisure horses.  We are well equipped with digital imaging modalities, nuclear scintigraphy, video and dynamic endoscopy, a modern theatre and hospital facilities. 

We have an amazing full time (minimum 40 hours per week) fixed-term position available for an Equine Veterinarian to support us during the busy spring / summer season, based at our branch practice in Taupo.

Our Taupo practice is a relatively small facility backed up by the referral hospital in Cambridge (approximately 2 hours away) and is staffed with 2 veterinarians and an intern on a 3:1 roster.

Main tasks:

Working alongside our small but dynamic Taupo based team, you will primarily be providing first opinion based ambulatory care and expected to service all areas of equine veterinary care. Your caseload will be varied, including lameness evaluations and reproductive services. An ability to undertake pre-purchase inspections would be beneficial but is not essential.  

Our Benefits:

  • A competitive salary package ranging from $90,000 - $120,000 NZD per annum on a pro rata basis, commensurate with experience. 
  • Use of a car, mobile phone, fuel and mobile plan expenses paid.
  • Professional indemnity insurance and vet council registration.
  • WEVC is an accredited employer and can assist with Accredited Employer Work Visa’s, if applicable.

Requirements:

  • Relevant veterinary degree and eligible for registration with the New Zealand Veterinary Council. 
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in equine practice, or have successfully completed an equine internship.
  • Be confident in managing a diverse workload of first opinion equine work. 
  • Full driver's license.
